The Case Strategy Services 38 CFR search tool indexes the current text of Title 38, Code of Federal Regulations, at subsection granularity. A search for a provision like the secondary-service-connection language in Part 3 returns the specific subsection that matches, not the whole section it lives inside.
A sidebar Browse and Jump panel exposes the full CFR table of contents as a tree, so you can read an entire part or section top to bottom, or jump directly to a known citation. A scope chip lets you confine a typed search to just that part or section once you have narrowed in.
Two ways to work
- Browse: click a part, subpart, or section in the tree to read everything under that node, ordered for reading.
- Scope and search: set a scope, then type a query to rank matches within that part or section specifically, instead of across the whole CFR.
Every result links back to the regulatory text it was drawn from, with the section number and subsection identifier shown alongside the verbatim language. Nothing is paraphrased.
Alongside the statute and the case law
The same search also covers 38 U.S.C., so a CFR provision and the statute it implements are both one query away. CAVC, CAFC, OGC, and M21-1 results that cite or interpret a given CFR section surface in the same archive.
Search 38 CFR at subsection precision, browse the full table of contents, and scope a query to exactly the part you need.
